Celery seed is an excellent herbal remedy to help you eliminate gout pain. Certain herbal remedies are a very good method of helping get rid of an acute attack. This is because they either decrease swelling, improve kidney function, or reduce uric acid. Some such as celery seed do all these things.
A great herb to use is celery seed. It is effective in treating many of the symptoms and causes of gout. Celery seed helps reduce swelling. It also helps your kidneys to excrete uric acid more efficiently. This is because celery seed is a diuretic. This potent herb also alkalizes your blood.

When taking celery seed, you can use it as a spice in your favorite dishes. If you wish not to eat it in a meal, you can buy it in an extract. Eating the seeds is not advisable as they are bitter.
This herb does have it’s drawbacks. A couple of them are very serious. A small percentage of people actually have an allergy to this herb. An allergy to this herb is very dangerous.
Anaphylaxis is a true medical emergency. Celery seed has the potential to cause this emergency if you are allergic to the seeds. You should consult your doctor prior to using this herb to treat your gout or any condition for that matter. It is unlikely you will be allergic as only a small percentage of the population does, however, you should make sure before trying it.
Although it is not common, certain women do get gout. Pregnant women should not use celery seed. The seeds can stimulate the uterus. This is not a good thing as it increases the chances of a miscarriage or possible premature birth.
Unless you have allergies to celery seed or are pregnant, celery seed should be very beneficial to you. Suggested dosages are 35-75mg per day and some naturopaths have suggested as much as 150mg.
