Controlling Your Blood Sugar Through A Health Conscious Diet

When it comes to food and low blood sugar, there are countless books and expert opinion on the subject. There have been many different types of diets, some even the exact opposite of others, that claim lowers blood sugar the best. This can cause much confusion when trying to figure out the best diet plan to lower blood sugar.

You may be wondering which diet is true. Chances are most, if not all, of the diets that have been studied and developed have evidence that they are effective. One reason for this is that all these diets eliminate certain food items and substances such as white flour, sugar, caffeine, alcohol and tobacco. Another common factor in hypoglycemic diet is consuming 6 small meals throughout the day.

Although these diets claim that if you use them by the book you’ll be a much healthier person, but to optimize your diet plan, its best to use the parts that work best for you and to shed the others. Only you know how your body reacts to your diet plans and you can adjust to what works best and stop continuing what doesn’t.

Your doctor or the diet book you are reading may list food that lower blood sugar, which you have to avoid. The good thing is you do not have to stick 100 percent to that suggested list but rather use it as a guide as you choose which foods are good for you.

Also, feel it out. You’ll know how your body reacts to a certain food or not, if your sugar spikes or not.

To help you manage your diet, you need to keep a food diary for about 7 to 10 days. You should list all the food, drink and medicines that you take and the time that you take them. You should also record the symptoms that you experience and the time you had them.

The food diary can help you weed out all the food negatively affecting you and help you to continue eating healthier.

Another little tidbit is to keep your blood sugar stable at all times. Keep foods readily available whether you are at home or on the go.

Remember that each person is different and one diet plan may work better for one person than it does for you. But that does not mean there isn’t a better diet plan out there for your specific needs.
