Several sources of information on the type two diabetes can be found almost everywhere. If you suspect that you have the diabetes type 2 condition or are at risk of acquiring it, type 2 diabetes information can be easily and conveniently found online. However, not every bit of online data may be accurately written. Therefore, it is necessary to set the facts straight about the common misconceptions about type 2 diabetes.

Fact #1: Diabetes has no treatment.

Reliable information on type 2 diabetes should tell you that at present there is no known 100% effective diabetes cure. You can manage or even prevent it from worsening but you cannot cure it completely. You should therefore be cautious with information on type 2 diabetes that will offer to provide you with a cure.

Fact #2: It is not fully understood.

There are numerous researchers and scientific organizations that are constantly trying to help us understand information on type 2 diabetes. It is a fact however that more studies need to be conducted to fully understand the disease. Even its exact causes cannot be fully determined. It is possible that genetic heritage makes some people insulin resistant. This genetic resistance, combined with poor eating and lifestyle habits may worsen diabetes.

Fact #3: Too much sugar does not necessarily cause diabetes.

Consuming too much sweets, by itself, does not really cause diabetes. However, diabetics prohibited from eating too much sweet food because of their body’s inability to process glucose. Facts about type 2 diabetes will tell you that type 2 diabetics’ body do not react to insulin. It is this insulin in our body which tells us to open up and take in glucose for energy production.

Sugar is also not the only food item that diabetics should watch out against. Carbohydrate intake in general should be the first thing that should be managed. The information on type 2 diabetes from your doctor should include instructions on how to count carbohydrates so you can limit your intake. Eating too much carbohydrate rich foods can produce as much glucose as sweet foods.

Fact #4: Not all fruits are good for diabetes.

Most people may think that a healthy food diet of vegetables and fruits is all that is we need to manage diabetes. What your information on type 2 diabetes should tell is that it is not about eating as much vegetables and fruits as you can. It is about moderation and simply ensuring that you eat only within your recommended daily allowance of sugars and carbohydrates. This is because fruits can still contain sugar and, as a type 2 diabetic, you should avoid those that are high in the glycemic index.

Fact #5: Some diabetics don’t show symptoms.

It doesn’t mean that just because you do not have the typical symptoms that you do not have or will never develop diabetes. It is enough to have risk factors such as advanced age, being overweight and genetic family history to convince you to undergo regular check ups. Some people discover the disease only when they are already suffering from a complication.

Fact #6: Complications can kill you.

It is not really diabetes itself that kills in most cases. Diabetics usually die because of the complications. Heart ailments for example are the number one cause of death in people with severe or uncontrolled diabetes. Others however may also suffer from kidney failure.

Not having type 2 diabetes symptom doesn't necessarily mean not having type 2 diabetes. This may not always be true though and understanding the true nature of a type 2 diabetes symptom may help save your life.

by Andy Rowde

Not having type 2 diabetes symptom doesn’t necessarily mean not having type 2 diabetes. This may not always be true though and understanding the true nature of a type 2 diabetes symptom may help save your life.

The Figures

When you have Type 2 Diabetes condition, it means that the cells in your body are not reacting properly to the work of insulin which is supposed to open up the cells to glucose. Without glucose in your cells you will have no clear source of energy.

More people suffer from Type 2 diabetes than type 1 diabetes . It is estimated that at least 90% of diabetics belong to the type 2 category. The sad fact though is that more than 6% of diabetics are not aware that they have the condition. The lack of awareness may be due to a dismissal of seemingly harmless type 2 diabetes symptoms or a total lack of warning signs.

Different Symptoms

Compared to type 2 diabetes, type 1 is more difficult to handle since it involves the inability of the pancreas to perform its job of producing insulin. Despite the difference in cause however, both types of diabetes share the same symptoms. A diabetic might begin to feel frequently tired, thirsty and may have occasionally blurry vision and wounds that do not heal quickly.

Type 1 and type 2 diabetes symptom differs on the onset. A type 1 diabetes symptom can develop rapidly and worsen in the span of a few weeks. Even with the rapid symptom development however, cell damage may already have been occurring for some time before type 1 diabetes is finally discovered. A type 2 diabetes symptom on the other hand is not as obvious and as bad as a type 1 symptom.

Effects of No Symptoms

Type 2 diabetes symptoms must be detected and acted upon right away. The key to effectively managing this chronic disease is early detection. Once you fail to detect a type 2 diabetes symptom however, you can suffer from complications that are even more difficult to reverse. Some diabetics only realize that they have type 2 diabetes because of complications like retinopathy, heart ailments, kidney problems and nerve deaths. A complication is therefore their only type 2 diabetes symptom.

Uncommon Risk Factors

Being overweight and a family history of diabetes are known signs that should alert even those individuals who do not experience a single type 2 diabetes symptom. You should however also consider yourself at high risk of developing diabetes if you are over 45 years old, had a baby over 9 pounds and had a history of gestational diabetes or pre diabetes. For undetermined reasons, individuals who are Asian, African, Hispanic and American are at greater risk of developing diabetes.

What Has to be Done

Needless to say, you need the professional advice of doctors to help you manage your condition or your type 2 diabetes symptom. There are however basic things you should remember on your own. You should monitor your glucose levels, take your medication as prescribed, follow your diet and exercise plans and watch and manage your weight.

by Andy Rowde

Like any health conditions, type 2 diabetes should also be given attention by people who stand to be at risk of it. However, although the internet is full of type 2 diabetes information, not all of these information are correct and accurate.

Why You Need Info

Most people think that people who have genetic history on genes are the only ones who are at risk of getting a diabetes type 2. Latest information on type 2 diabetes tells us, however, that improper diets, stressful lifestyles and being overweight are also considered to be factors leading to diabetes.

Most type 2 diabetes information will only tell you of the risk factors as well as the signs and symptoms of diabetes type 2. However, there are people who don’t exhibit typical signs and symptoms of the condition. Thus, they don’t get proper diagnosis or when they do, it is already too late.

Early Detection

Aside from type 2 diabetes, people may also suffer from type 1 diabetes. Type 2 however is more common and may now even affect younger people especially those who are overweight.

A good type 2 diabetes information is one that can help you minimize the risks of developing the condition. Furthermore, if you already have the condition, a good diabetes information should also be able to inform you on how to prevent complications from developing. Since diabetes is not only about blood sugar level, preventing complications may also mean preventing heart diseases, kidney failure, stroke, nerve damage and even limb amputation.

Diet Considerations

Another primary reason why you need to get ahold of a reliabe type 2 diabetes information as early on as possible in the condition is for you to be able to find out about how to deal with it. One of the important aspects of the condition which you should deal with is your diet. Early stages of type 2 diabetes need not necessarily require extensive medication. The condition may still yet be helped with proper diet following your dietician and nutritionist’s advise.

Reliable Sources of Type 2 Diabetes Information

Your most reliable type 2 diabetes info resource is your doctor. In fact, you shouldn’t make diet adjustments on your own if you haven’t seen your doctor yet. Experimenting on your diet without proper type 2 diabetes info could result in fluctuations in your blood sugar level that could lead to a complication related death. You could however research for diabetes information on your own.

Researching ahead of time will give you time to think about your condition and come up with questions you may need to ask your doctor about. When looking for type 2 diabetes information on the internet, it is always best to start with government and medical organization sites and to compare which information seem to be consistent throughout the websites and which ones seem hazy. Furthermore, you can also log on to support groups and forums where you can interact with other diabetes patient’s who can offer valuable insight into your condition.
